Consultant Interventional & General Cardiologist

Dr Anwar Shahzad is a highly accomplished Consultant Interventional and General Cardiologist with extensive experience in the diagnosis and management of complex cardiac conditions. He completed his MBBS in 1997, graduating with gold medals and a certificate of distinction, maintaining an outstanding academic record throughout his medical training.

Dr Shahzad undertook specialist training through the Royal Australasian College of Physicians across New Zealand and Australia, and earned his fellowship after completing advanced Cardiology training at Flinders Medical Centre in Adelaide. He also holds an MRCP (UK) diploma (2007) and has successfully completed medical licensure examinations in the USA, UK, and New Zealand, as well as obtaining an AMC Certificate for general registration in Australia.

With a strong interest in academic medicine and research, Dr. Shahzad has published in internationally renowned journals including The American Journal of Cardiology and the Journal of Vascular Surgery. He is also passionate about mentoring junior doctors and medical students.

His clinical interests include Coronary Artery Disease, Heart Failure, Arrhythmias, and Valvular Heart Disease. He provides a comprehensive range of cardiac services such as Stress Echocardiography, Echocardiograms, ECG, and Holter Monitoring for both private and uninsured patients, and regularly performs Cardiac Catheterisation at affiliated private hospitals.

While his primary focus lies in Cardiology, Dr Shahzad is also experienced in managing general medical conditions. With over 12 years of consultant-level experience, he remains dedicated to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care and welcomes both urgent and non-urgent referrals.
